What this means:
The system check confirms that screensharing is enabled and technically working — but something is preventing the screen from being clearly seen or shared correctly. This can be due to permissions not being fully granted, or visual issues like black screens, flickering, or frozen displays.
Common Problems and How to Fix Them
Problem: Screen sharing permission is only partially granted (Mac)
What’s going on: On Macs, screensharing won’t work unless both “Screen Recording” and “Accessibility” permissions are given to the TestReach app.
What to try (macOS Ventura & later):
- Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security
- Open Screen Recording
- Ensure TestReach is toggled On
- Go back and open Accessibility and make sure TestReach is enabled there too
- Restart the app if prompted
- Older macOS versions (Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey):
- Follow the same steps through System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy
- Click the padlock icon to unlock settings and make changes
Problem: The screen appears black or flickers during the check
What’s going on: This usually means the screen is being shared, but the content can’t be captured properly due to macOS display settings or missing permissions.
What to try:
- Make sure “Screen Recording” is enabled for TestReach as above
- Avoid using multiple monitors or switching display modes during setup
- Restart your device and open only the TestReach app
Problem: Screenshare is failing on Windows
While permissions aren’t typically required for screensharing on Windows, other factors might interfere.
What to try:
- Close any apps that overlay or protect content (e.g. security software, recording tools, streaming overlays)
- Restart the TestReach app and try again
- Try running TestReach in Admin Mode (right-click > Run as Administrator)
Problem: The TestReach app needs to be restarted to apply changes
What’s going on: Even after fixing the issue, the app might not detect the new permissions until it restarts.
What to try:
- Fully quit TestReach (on Mac, use Command+Option+Esc > Force Quit)
- Reopen the app and try the system check again
Still not working?
If everything looks correct and the screen still isn’t sharing properly:
- Reboot your device
- Reinstall TestReach from https://download.testreach.com
- Try a single display setup if using multiple monitors
