What this means:
The TestReach application doesn’t have permission to record or share your screen. This is most common on Mac devices, where explicit access must be granted in your system settings. On Windows, screenshare permission issues are rare but can still occur due to background apps or restrictions.
Common Problems and How to Fix Them
Problem: Screen recording permission is blocked (Mac)
What’s going on: macOS requires you to give permission for apps to record your screen — even if the app appears to run normally.
What to try (macOS Ventura or later):
- Click the Apple menu > System Settings > Privacy & Security
- Scroll to Screen Recording
- Ensure TestReach is turned On
- Scroll up to Accessibility, and enable TestReach there too
- Click the padlock in the bottom-left corner to save changes, if prompted
- Restart the app
- Earlier macOS versions (Mojave, Catalina, Big Sur, Monterey):
- Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy
- Unlock with the padlock icon
- Enable TestReach under both Accessibility and Screen Recording
- Restart the app
You must quit and reopen TestReach after changing these settings for them to take effect.
Problem: Screenshare failure on Windows
What’s going on: While Windows doesn’t require permission for screen sharing, other software may interfere.
What to try:
- Close any software that could block screen capture (e.g. security overlays, recording tools, game bars)
- Make sure you are not using Windows Focus Assist, which may suppress screen activity
- Try running TestReach in Admin Mode (Right-click > Run as Administrator)
- Reboot your device and try again
Problem: Antivirus or security software is interfering
What’s going on: Some third-party antivirus or security tools may block screen sharing features.
What to try:
- Open your antivirus software
- Look for privacy or “screen capture protection” features
- Temporarily disable those features or add TestReach as a trusted app
- Re-run the system check after restarting the app
Tip: Reinstall and retest
If all permissions are correct but screenshare still fails, reinstalling the app often resolves lingering issues.
